 Step 2 of 4, Installation
The day of Installation will involves physically installing the system, and connecting it to the lines that require recording.
Depending on the recording apparatus purchased, the system will usually consist of a standard Mini Tower PC, or maybe an optional rack based system, with the relevant recording cards already installed within the chassis. There will also be a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers of some sort.
The actual specification of the kit will depend on what is currently available as a "Normal" specification in the Computer/IT industry, and what was originally specified during the Sales and Pre-Installation process.
Provided that any potential problems listed during the Pre-Installation have been resolved, and any hardware that was noted as being required/assembled, has been carried before hand, the time required to install will depend upon how many physical connections the Voice Recorder requires, and the accessibility of the actual systems installation area. On a normal system, this takes about half a day.
Some installations will require connection to the SMDR output of the PBX, and depending upon the configuration of this output, we may have an interface already programmed and be ready to go straight away. Failing this, we will need to "capture" the SMDR output, and the write a specific interface for this site. This would normally take a few days. The system will still be able to "record" calls while this is carried out, but when searching, you would not be able to search on the "extension" number.
